Choosing Allah...
Assalamu alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuhu,
Eid Mubarak!
Taqabbalallahu minna wa minkum, ameen.
How are you doing?
How are you navigating the post-Ramadan slump?
May Allah ease our affairs, ameen.
May Allah surround us with people who will assist us to do what pleases Him always, ameen.
Recently, I was going through a particular test in my life and I called up a friend to enquire how she had navigated something similar in the past. Her response? “It’s the dunya, tests will keep coming.”
It was a painful listen, but it is the truth.
There will always be times when you have to choose between something you desire of this world and the next.
It could be a job that makes you compromise on your salah times?
The choice of a “premium” school that could make a dent on your kid’s Imaan?
Financial struggles that push you towards considering riba (usury)?
A friendship that encourages you to transgress the limits set by Allah?
An interaction that makes you want to compromise on your haya (modesty)?
A family tradition that everyone engages in, that is based on bid’a (innovation)?
Solitude with your phone that eases it for you to watch the haram?
A lucrative business that is filled with shadiness?
A career “advancement” opportunity that would leave you with no time for your home and kids?
A prospective spouse that wants you to compromise on your Islamic values?
This dunya is a place of tests!
أَحَسِبَ ٱلنَّاسُ أَن يُتْرَكُوٓا۟ أَن يَقُولُوٓا۟ ءَامَنَّا وَهُمْ لَا يُفْتَنُونَ ٢
Do people think that they will be left to say, 'We believe,' and they will not be tried?
Suratul Ankabut Verse 2
When our tests come, I pray Allah makes it easy for us, to choose Him, always and forever, ameen.
Fee Amanillah,
Umm Saalim
P.S. We lost Baby Nasiru a day before eid.
I genuinely appreciate how you all helped to fundraise for him.
May Allah reward you all, jazaakumullahu khairan.
Please include his family in your du'as.
As much as it breaks our hearts, we know he is in a better place by the will of Allah.
May Allah grant us all a good death, ameen.
